Why does cabinet paint keep peeling after painting?

Poor adhesion often comes from an unsuitable surface, weak preparation, or an existing finish that needs more work. Cabinet doors, drawer fronts, and boxes need separate checks because each surface may respond differently. We inspect the finish, identify areas that need repair or removal, and set the estimate around the actual cabinet condition.

Cabinet Painting for City of Sammamish Homes and Businesses

Cabinet painting focuses on the parts people touch and see each day. The work may include doors, drawer fronts, cabinet boxes, face frames, and nearby trim. It suits sound cabinets that need a new finish, but damaged structure may call for carpentry or refacing work.

The buyer's key decision is whether the existing cabinet surface can hold a new coating. We inspect adhesion, wear, repairs, and the current finish before recommending a scope. That check matters because a fresh coat cannot correct loose layers or damaged edges by itself.

Our service fits homeowners, property managers, and commercial clients who want a planned update. We also provide carpentry services when related repairs belong in the project plan.

  • Check cabinet doors, drawer fronts, boxes, and face frames for loose or damaged finish.
  • Separate surface adjustment from replacement or refacing needs.
  • Confirm repair, preparation, coating, protection, and cleanup needs.
  • Review the planned scope during the estimate and final inspection.

  • We provide cabinet painting across City of Sammamish and the surrounding area, including Redmond.

What Better Cabinet Finishes Change

A sound cabinet structure can receive a new finish without replacing every cabinet part.

Careful preparation gives the coating a better surface to bond.

Repairing chipped edges before coating helps the finish look more even.

A planned cabinet update can address appearance while keeping related carpentry needs visible.

Final inspection gives you a chance to review the finish with a lead crew member.

How to Judge the Right Cabinet Painting Scope

Start with the existing finish

The existing coating determines much of the preparation work. We check loose areas, worn edges, and surface damage before setting the estimate. This service is the wrong fit when cabinet boxes or structural parts need full replacement.

Keep repairs in the plan

Cabinet painting works best when repairs are addressed before coating. Our carpentry services can cover related repair needs when the agreed scope includes them.

Review the work at completion

A lead paint crew member conducts a final inspection with you. That review covers the finished surfaces and helps confirm that the work matches the agreed plan.

We had been putting off painting our house because there is never a great time to do so. After we decided to do it, we got 6 bids, some where very low, with low grade products, other very high with outrageous considerations, Jeff and his team came dead in the middle with amazing notes from the first visit, careful workmanship and with top of the line quality product. Scheduling was a breeze with Lorena make it so easy for us even with a busy schedule during the summer. The best experience we've had, we basically did not notice the team was working. They arrived every day super early, left the area pristine, and delivered a great quality outcome in the entire exterior job. We are super happy with the pain, the look and all the recommendation and fixes the team did. We will definitely work with 365Painting Solutions for all of our future painting needs. Thank you for making this experience simple and painless.

The team at 365 did a great job painting our house. They painted the full exterior of our house, including all the trim, front door, and garage doors. Their color matching was spot on, and the front door and porch trim finish is perfectly smooth. They even did a nice job with caulking as well.

These guys did an awesome job! They have a well trained team that works closely together to get the job done on time and on budget. They also did a number of other repairs on the interior and exterior ( removed dry rot, repair drywall, etc.) before they could even start the painting. I would highly recommend them!

Questions About Cabinet Painting and Paint Damage

How do you prevent cabinet paint damage?

Poor adhesion is prevented through surface checks, careful preparation, and repairs before coating. We inspect loose finish, worn edges, and the condition of doors, drawer fronts, and boxes. Related work areas are protected before preparation begins. The final inspection checks the completed surfaces with you, so visible concerns can be reviewed against the agreed plan.

What should the crew inspect before cabinet painting starts?

Existing finish, cabinet parts, edges, and repair needs determine the first inspection. We review doors, drawer fronts, boxes, face frames, and nearby trim for loose layers or damage. The inspection also helps separate painting from refacing or carpentry work. That distinction keeps the estimate tied to the actual condition of the cabinets.

Which part of the job changes the cabinet painting estimate?

Cabinet condition and preparation needs have the greatest effect on the estimate. The scope can change when doors need repair, loose coating needs removal, or cabinet boxes need separate work. Related carpentry and protection of nearby areas also matter. A free in-home consultation lets us review these details before preparing the estimate.

When is cabinet painting the wrong service?

Cabinet painting is the wrong service when the cabinet structure needs full replacement. Sound doors, boxes, and frames can often receive a new finish after proper preparation. Severe damage may call for refacing or carpentry work. We discuss that distinction during the in-home meeting, so the planned work matches the condition you want addressed.

Why do cabinet edges chip after painting?

Chipping edges often point to damaged material, weak adhesion, or insufficient preparation. We inspect the edge, nearby coating, and the cabinet part connected to it. Repair may be needed before painting can address the surface. The estimate separates that repair from the finish work, which helps prevent an unclear project scope.

How should I prepare for the in-home cabinet estimate?

Access to the cabinet doors, drawer fronts, boxes, and nearby work areas helps us review the project. Clear personal items from the cabinets and identify repairs or finish concerns you want discussed. We can then talk through project ideas, protection needs, and the planned scope during the free consultation.

Who provides the cabinet painting and final inspection?

PainterRedmondwa.com provides the cabinet painting, and a lead paint crew member completes the final inspection with you. Our in-house painting crew handles preparation, repairs within the agreed scope, painting, and cleanup. We keep customers informed during the project and review the finished work at completion.
