Steps for preparing and removing ceiling texture

1

Review the ceiling and room

We inspect the ceiling, furniture, floors, fixtures, access points, and visible surface concerns.

2

Test the existing texture

We check the texture and note conditions that could change the removal and repair plan.

3

Set protection and repair needs

We plan furniture covering, floor protection, moisture control, electrical protection, and needed repairs.

4

Remove the ceiling texture

We remove the popcorn texture with controlled work practices that protect nearby surfaces.

5

Inspect the prepared ceiling

A lead paint crew member reviews the completed work with you before the next finish decision.

Choosing the right ceiling preparation plan

Start with the room protection plan

Furniture covering and floor protection set the work area before texture removal begins. The plan also accounts for fixtures and access. This service is the wrong job when the ceiling only needs a small paint touch-up and has no texture concern.

Separate texture from surface repairs

Texture removal exposes the ceiling surface, so repairs may need separate attention before painting. We explain those needs before the work moves ahead.

Use a final inspection

A lead paint crew member reviews the finished work alongside the customer. That review helps confirm the agreed scope and any remaining finish decisions.

What changes after ceiling texture removal

A prepared smooth ceiling gives you a clear choice for the next finish.

Early surface checks help separate texture work from drywall repairs.

Protected furniture and flooring keep preparation focused on the ceiling.

A final inspection lets you review the completed work with a lead crew member.

These options address different ceiling conditions and should not be treated as the same job.

These guys did an awesome job! They have a well trained team that works closely together to get the job done on time and on budget. They also did a number of other repairs on the interior and exterior ( removed dry rot, repair drywall, etc.) before they could even start the painting. I would highly recommend them!

We had been putting off painting our house because there is never a great time to do so. After we decided to do it, we got 6 bids, some where very low, with low grade products, other very high with outrageous considerations, Jeff and his team came dead in the middle with amazing notes from the first visit, careful workmanship and with top of the line quality product. Scheduling was a breeze with Lorena make it so easy for us even with a busy schedule during the summer. The best experience we've had, we basically did not notice the team was working. They arrived every day super early, left the area pristine, and delivered a great quality outcome in the entire exterior job. We are super happy with the pain, the look and all the recommendation and fixes the team did. We will definitely work with 365Painting Solutions for all of our future painting needs. Thank you for making this experience simple and painless.

Questions about removing popcorn ceiling texture

How is a popcorn ceiling prepared for safe removal for Popcorn Ceiling Removal?

Furniture covering protects belongings before popcorn ceiling removal begins. Floor protection limits contact with removed texture and dust, while electrical protection addresses fixtures near the work area. Texture testing and moisture checks help identify conditions that could change the plan. We review these needs during the consultation before setting the work scope.

What should I move before ceiling texture removal?

Move small furniture and personal items away from the work area before the crew arrives. Larger pieces should remain accessible for careful covering and floor protection. Wall decorations and fragile items should also be cleared from nearby surfaces. The room plan depends on access, fixtures, and the ceiling area included in the estimate.

Which ceiling conditions change the work plan for Popcorn Ceiling Removal?

Moisture concerns, loose texture, uneven areas, drywall damage, and restricted access can change the work plan. The ceiling surface needs review before removal starts. Repairs may become part of the scope after texture comes down. We explain those findings during the in-home meeting before work begins.

When should a customer request an estimate for ceiling texture removal?

A customer should request an estimate when a textured ceiling needs removal, repair review, or preparation for a new finish. The estimate should account for room protection, access, fixtures, texture condition, and surface repairs. Free estimates are available after a consultation and in-home meeting.

Why can moisture matter before popcorn ceiling removal?

Moisture can affect the ceiling surface and change the repair work needed after texture removal. A moisture concern should be reviewed before the ceiling finish is planned. The work scope may need to address the affected area first. We discuss visible conditions during the site review and explain the next step.
